To Fumigate your House or not?

What is fumigation?

Tenting carefully houses for fumigation is a common sight in residential neighborhoods. It’s an effective method of getting rid of termites and other pests. A professional termite removal company encloses your house with a secure tent, using vinyl-coated nylon tarpaulin. They make use of a lethal gas to get rid of the dangerous creatures that cause havoc in your house.

There are pre- and post fumigation steps you need to follow carefully. You should move out your family, pets and indoor plants to a safe place. You should remove food materials, medicines and seeds kept for planting. A minimum of six hours and a maximum of a week will be required for completion of fumigation, depending on the degree of infestation.

After fumigation, you need to put up a sign in a prominent place of your house, giving all the details of the work done.

If fumigation is not feasible ….

There are very strict guidelines on the use of the type, the quantity and the strength of fumigation chemicals. There are others on the tenting process and the clean up and safety measures that have to be put in place. However, you may feel fumigation is not a desirable option for your own reasons.

It could cause additional risks to some people in your family who are battling already allergies or health conditions. It may be inconvenient to move seniors or sick people for the duration of tenting. You may not be inclined to remove your pets, indoor plants and other materials.

Besides these cases, there can be a number of other situations where the use of fumigation may not be a practicable option. However, you just cannot put your home at risk by giving termites free rein. You will surely look for other options.

Non-fumigation termite control is the only solution available, when fumigation is not feasible. The best termite control companies do offer now this option to their customers. It involves the use of special low toxicity chemicals to get rid of termite infestation in just one day.
